Group Study Room Construction

This Fall, the University Library will be constructing four new Group Study Rooms. These additional rooms will be located on the third floor near the current periodicals (see map below for exact location)

During the construction, noise and dust may be a problem near the construction site.  Alternate quiet study spaces are available on other floors of the Library.

New Group Study Rooms

The tentative completion date for the new groups study rooms is December 2009.

Watch for the opening of these new group study rooms sometime later this academic year.

We apologize for any inconvenience.

Welcome back to campus!

Did you know that 18.4 million students are projected to be enrolled in colleges and universities across the United States this fall*? Sacramento State is certainly contributing its fair share as thousands of new and returning students arrive back on campus this week. This year the library is happy to welcome everybody back with a freshly serviced (and working!) escalator, a collection of recently cleaned furntiure, a host of shiny new computers, and even some new books! Not to mention the friendly librarians and staff who are excited to help with teaching and learning.

*Find this and other fascinating trivia at the website of one of my favorite government agencies - the US Census Bureau: http://www.census.gov/Press-Release/www/releases/archives/facts_for_features_special_editions/012084.html

Please excuse our mess

Over 120 brand new computers are being installed on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the Library. Those with a keen eye may notice the second floor computer lab has busted out of its cubicle walls and now spreads across a great deal of the north side of the floor. But new for this year is the 3rd floor “computer lab” which will require users to log on with their SacLink accounts. All the computers have production software so users can type papers and do research all in one convenient place.

Campus visitors will still have access to the internet via the research stations located on the south side of the 2nd floor.

While the installation is in progress, students and staff can use the computing labs in the AIRC building or the Library CoLab. Everything is scheduled to be in place when Fall Semester starts September 2nd!
