U.S. District Court Judge Robert C. Belloni grants motion by the government to vacate Yasui's conviction.

The Yasui case was argued in Portland, and the judge agreed to vacate Yasui's conviction but not to grant the coram nobis petition. Yasui appealed this decision to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, but before the appeal could be heard, Yasui died. The family then petitioned the U.S. Supreme Court to hear the appeal, but the Court refused, citing the fact that with his death, the petition was no longer valid.
