September 1992
President George H.W. Bush signs H.R. 4551, wherein all eligible Japanese Americans will receive their redress money with additional groups added.

By 1992, it became apparent that there were other categories of Japanese Americans that should be eligible to receive redress. Some of the categories added included the children of parents who were excluded but not incarcerated; children born after their mothers left under the indefinite leave or voluntary programs; children who accompanied parents who were sent to Japan in exchange of for American civilians; Japanese Latin Americans; railroad and mining employees; individuals affected in Hawaii, etc. H.R. 4551 increased the original $1.25 billion to $1.65 billion which provided for an additional 20,000 redress payments.
